| 07/03/04 Walk 5.2 from John and Anne Nuttalls book - The Mountains of Wales. The weather was sunny but cold and the walk started from the car park on the A470 at the top of the Crimea pass 2 miles north of Blaenau Ffestiniog. There were five peaks- Allt-fawr ( 2290ft) - Moel druman (2218ft) Ysgafell Wen (2205ft) - Ysgafell Wen North Top (2195ft) - Ysgafell Wen far North Top) 2133ft). The walk was great and I had my lunch on the last peak surveying the valley below me, I was faced with a descent into the valley and a climb up the other side or retracing my steps along the undulating ridge, I chose the first option as described in the Guidebook, I am glad I did, it was a superb, wild and lonely valley, not a soul in sight , there was wonderful feeling of a truly wild and unfrequented valley | |
