MY WALKING WORLD David Preston

28/12/03 - Y Foel Goch and Gallt yr Ogof

A Walk on near the Glyders from Idwal Cottage and climbing Y Foel Goch and Gallt yr Ogof - 7miles. The weather was dry with strong winds and temperature of minus 2 centigrade  and according to the Rangers information the wind chill on the mountains was minus 20 centrigrade - it certainly felt like it. A great walk.

Looking up towards Tryfan at the start of the walk

Looking south over Llyn Idwal towards Glyder Fach

Looking up the snow covered path towards Bwlch Tryfan with the lower slopes of Tryfan on the left and the start of Bristly Ridge scramble on the far right

Looking from Bwlch Tryfan to the ridge between Glyder Fach and Y Foel Goch.

There is faint track visible in the snow

Looking across to Glyder Fach from Y Foel Goch

It was bitterley cold

The track down starts just past the small pool on the ridge

A great walk in very cold weather which doesn't bother me, but it is so much nicer with a little bit of sunshine, refreshments are available at the car park when you get back- you can't beat a steaming mug of tea at the end of the walk
