MY WALKING WORLD  David Preston

30/11/08 - A walk to the Trig Points on Featherbed Moss and Holme Moss from Crowden

30/11/08 -       This was my first walk for a while as I had been on holiday and it was good to get out in the hills. I had bought a Guidebook called " Peak District Trigpointing Walks" written by Keith Stevens and Peter Whittaker published by Sigma Leisure. The guide describes walks to many of the 150 Trig Points in the Derbyshire Peak District. This was a 10 mile walk in sunny weather but there had been a keen frost the previous night and many of the paths were icy

Crowden Great Brook - The Pennine Way follows the valley heading north to Holme Moss

This was the furthest north of this walk. The guidebook describes a route down the eastern side of the valley but I decided to follow the Pennine Way back to the car. It was 1415hrs and it would be dark in a few hours and with five miles to go I thought it wiser to follow the good path back rather than the unknown path  that would not be easy to follow in the late afternoon. I arrived back at the car in two hours just as it was going dark. A wise choice of route
