Walking Log

20/05/06 - The walk today was along the Nantile Ridge in Snowdonia with the 40sWalkersNorth - 17 of us met at Talysarn and took the Minibus service that runs along the valley and took the minibus service that runs along the valley beneath the ridge. This enables you to leave your car at the end and to start from the other end and walk towards your car. An excellent service - fare £1.00 each.  The weather today was not promising with a considerable amount of rain in the previous days. We started out in the rain and the weather slowly cleared during the day, there was low cloud most of the day but we got occasional tantalising glimpses of the spectacular scenery along the ridge. This is the third time I have been along the ridge and for a clearer view check out my walk on the log on 23/01/05

A pause for a rest part of the way up Y Garn

The weather at this stage was still blustery with showers

A bit of a scramble down one the steep bits in the misty conditions

Another of the steep bits, these can all be avoided by taking some of the other paths around the difficult parts

A view down into the valley as the strong wind blew some of the cloud away for a few moments

The ridge ahead in the mist

The group descending with some great views across to the coast

Down out of the clouds for a moment

Looking ahead towards the final part of the ridge

Phil our leader part way up the final scramble

Back down in the valley on the way back to the cars

The walk today was superb and despite the weather earlier on it brightened up later although the views from the ridge were restricted
