| 20/11/05- Three summits climbed today, I parked on the layby at Bwlch Oerddrws on the A470 and climbed Waun-oer 670metres, then across to Cribbin Fawr 659 metres, after that I followed the ridge across Craig Portlas and then climbed up to the summit of Maen Du 674 metres. As there was no apparent path down I decided to follow one of the fences down the mountainside. This turned out to be one of the steepest descents I have ever done, how they erected that fence I will never know. One hand was on the fence wire at all times to prevent myself from sliding down the mountainside. A remarkable feat to build a fence down such steep terrain. The weather was excellent with a heavy frost but clear skies with sunshine | |

| Cadair Idris from Waun -oer. I last climbed this from the other side in my early days of walking. Probably around 1980. looking forward to climbing it again in the future |

| The fence I
followed down from the summit of Maen Du was right in the centre of the Cwym.
It started out fine but got steeper and steeper until I eventually had
reached the point of no return.
Any steeper and I would have needed a parachute, I sometimes think there may be other ways for a 63 year old man to have fun on a Sunday. On second thoughts I don't think there is, it was a superb day in wonderful country and great weather
