Kinloch Castle - our accomadation for a couple of nights |
Heading across
the island to Kilmory Bay - This is five miles from the Castle
The laundry for the castle was
done here as the Lady of the Castle did not like the the washing done
anywhere near the castle |
There are plenty
of deer on the island but no sheep, rabbits or foxes |

Sunday - heading up the slopes of
Hallival |
Leaving the summit of Hallival and dropping down to the pass before
climbing Askival which is ahead |
What a great walking day
Cloud drifting across the face of
Askival we are heading up the ridge |

On the summit of Askival 812 metres |
Looking back up at Askival - most
of the group came down the right of the picture but a few can be seen
in the centre coming down the rocky area
Looks impressive but was safer
than it looks |
After descending from Askival to the pass in the centre we contoured
round the mountainside to reach the next pass to lead us back to the
Castle Some of the group
descended into the valley and climbed back up to our present position
- slightly quicker |
Looking for Sea Otters on the seashore - there is plenty of evidence
of their presence but we were not lucky enough to see any |
The lichens on
the seashore are evidence of the unpolluted atmosphere |

A seal at last |

The island has some beautiful wild flowers |

Isn't

Another great weekend organised by
the 40sWalkersNorth (Now renamed Northern Walkers) - We stayed at the hostel at Kinloch Castle, the
weather was good and the peace and tranquility of the Island was
wonderful. Although there are a handful of motor vehicles on the
island there are no proper roads and just a few tracks leading across
the island - There is also a small campsite on the shore. |
